In 1893 Directory Henry James was still at 27 Raglan
Street, Plumstead.
In 1900 Directory there was a Henry James Hogg at 45 St.
James Place, Plumstead, also in 1910 Directory.
Excerpts from Henry James's will:- " Henry James Hogg of 45
St. James Place, Plumstead...will made 9 April 1917. Exor.
Arthur Richard Bell of 19 Heavitree Road, Plumstead.
Mentions wife Alice Adelaide, and daughters Alice Maude
Adelaide (£25),
Ethel Lilian (£25), Mabel Louisa (£25). Witnesses were
Lilian Louise Bell and Elsie Lucy Bell, both of 19
Heavitree Road.
Probate granted 23 December 1926.Note:- described on
probate document as " of 39 Waverley Road, Plumstead,
formerly of 45 St. James Place; and his executor as Arthur
Richard Bell of Station Road, Heathfield, Sussex,
"clerk".Effects gross £710
12s. 9d.
Originally a cartridge maker at Woolwich Arsenal. Address
given in probate index:- 39 Waverley Road, Plumstead.
Henry James's tombstone in Plumstead Cemetery is inscribed:-
" In loving memory of my dear husband Henry James Hogg,
died 14th November 1926 aged 61, also our children Daisy
Florence, died 20 August 1896, 8 months; Herbert Henry
(only son) died 1 October 1896 6 1/2 years; also Alice
Adelaide Hogg, wife
of above, died 10th February 1941, 77 years." There are
also eight lines of verse.
